Do you know what spirit
you are of? Have you done any discerning today? Are your eyes open to know
good and evil? |
If EVE had paid
attention to how subtle the beast was being, instead of looking at her
cravings and feelings, she might have been able to overcome the deceiver.
While she was wrapped up with what SHE WANTED, she was blinded by what
Satan was manipulating her into. She ended in judgement for disobedience;
a judgment that could have been avoided by discerning the spirit first. |
If MOSES had been
paying attention to the spirit that was behind pushing the crowd, instead
of just being pressured into frustration by the crowd, he would have never
struck the rock twice. He ended up on Mt. Nebo and not in the promised
land because he allowed his feelings to push him into disobedience. |
If SAMPSON had been
praying instead of playing perhaps he could have looked into the eyes of
his temptation and seen the spirit in Delilah’s eyes. He lost his eyes,
not just his powers, in a moment of time because he did not try the
spirit. When he thought he was safest is when Satan struck the swiftest. |
If PETER had been
yielding to humility instead of to honor, duty, and self-strength, perhaps
he would have seen what happened to the face of Judas the betrayer as the
serpent slipped into his soul and caused him to depart the salvation
supper. He could have seen the seed of his own upcoming fall if he had
discerned the spirit of wisdom in his Master who warned him. Side by side
at that supper sat two spirits; the spirit of truth and the spirit of
error. He denied his Lord thrice because he was so sure of his own heart;
not knowing that the spirit of evil intrudes thoughts that exalt
themselves against the knowledge of Christ. |
Lastly, what of Balaam
the prophet? He was close enough to the Lord God to hear His voice
clearly. He was experienced enough to know when the prophecy was of the
Lord. He was strong enough to overcome the direct objections of Balak who
tempted him. Yet he fell to the most common of all the temptations of the
demonic spirit. He fell on the scripture that says, "YOU CANNOT SERVE
GOD AND MAMMON". He traded his closeness to the Lord for the
communion of a wealthy man. Had he discerned that evil sometimes comes in
good packages then he might have not ended his life with a javelin in his
belly. He died at the hands of the nation that he had prophetically
blessed while under the spirit of God. |
Take time today to pray
that your eyes be enlightened that your whole being be filled with light!
It will save you! |

First, Faith -- oh ye of little faith; Second, Patience -- oh ye busy about many things; Third, Silence -- until He speaks.
